KINGS HEAD, NEWQUAY

THE PROJECT

The Kings Head is a proposed redevelopment of a brownfield site consisting of a disused public house in Newquay on an important gateway site into the town.

The proposed development offers 10 residential apartments over three floors. The design of the proposed building is intended to reflect the historic and present industrial nature of the locality, recognising the heritage buildings associated with the former railway as well the present day industrial estate at Treloggan. The building utilises shallow pitch and saw-tooth roof forms which are prevalent within industrial buildings.

The use of brick references the existing railway buildings to the west of the site. As well as red brick, dark engineering bricks were commonly used within railway and industrial structures. Confident use of brick within the proposed building (alongside other sympathetic materials) is intended to moderate the appearance of an adjacent housing development.

Planning Approval has been granted for this proposed development.
