One of a series of building conservation projects undertaken by CAD Heritage for the well-known ‘Stable Bar & Restaurant’ chain. The existing historic building is Grade II* Listed and had been the Customs House up to the point at which The Stable took possession. HMRC had used the building as offices.
The subsequent uncovering and renovation of the building was extensive and required significant consultation with the Local Authority Conservation Officer and Historic England.
The end result of this careful architectural conservation work is a stunning re-birth for a grand and impressive civic building, with access for the public to enjoy the spaces and understand a little more of the history of the building.
