The original dwelling was already of good proportions, but the location, with open and direct water views, demanded a modern home design of the highest quality. Ross Edwards used the sloping site to full advantage and with Steve Hooper created additional space under and in front of the existing building. This provided garaging, utility, shower room and additional bedrooms, leaving the upper two floors to take full advantage of the panoramic sea views.
This use of modern residential architecture made the very best of the dwelling. Internally and externally the building is unrecognisable from the original, but it still retains a character that only comes from working intelligently with the existing building.
