The Packhorse Inn was a traditional village public house and at the time of CAD Architects’ involvement the premises were in danger of closing down. The building is Grade II Listed and had been allowed to fall into disrepair.
The client, Packhorse Housing, initially sought to make a residential development to the rear of the Public House. However, the opportunity to develop a hotel alongside the existing building became the focus.
Using their skills as residential architects, CAD successfully designed and gained planning permission for a 52 bed hotel, along with significant alterations to the existing Listed Building.
