ST MARY’S ABBEY, BODMIN

 
This former Roman Catholic Abbey, built at the turn of the century, was in dire need of major renovation work.

CAD Architects achieved consent within the existing shell to create six two bedroom apartments and three townhouses, while carefully preserving the architectural heritage of the original building.

The conversion and renovation included the replacement of all of the original steel framed windows. A new double glazed modern equivalent was sourced locally to maintain the character of the building. The original Chapel within the building contained a timber ribbed barrel vault, which had been painstakingly hand-painted by one of the former residents.

This beautiful feature was retained and restored.
