CHRISTIE’S FURNITURE WAREHOUSE

THE PROJECT

The original building suffered a catastrophic fire. Parts were historic and listed and although the timber elements were destroyed the stone walls remained.

At the time, CAD Architects were based close by and it clearly made sense for us to be commercial architects for the re-construction.
Because the building was so completely destroyed by the fire the planning department had the right to ask for consequential improvement and in this case asked for elevational improvements.

Whilst this commercial architecture project was constrained by a tight budget based on insurance value, a building design was conceived to improve the former 1970’s garden machinery building and create a more up to date retail warehouse.
