Whilst the granite façade of this Grade 2 Listed building has been restored to its former glory & the original stone perimeter walls retained, the roofs & interior of the buildings are entirely new including an additional floor level in the Alma Place buildings and a complete new building over what was the meat market. The building now houses flats, the Cornish Studies library (including the George Ellis photographic collection in a temperature- and humidity-controlled environment with an automatic fire suppression system), a market & a small shopping arcade.
